New Altar Dressings

On display during the History Weekend was the new Altar Dressing: beautiful.  It is possible to have a design for each season, but of course these cost quite a lot of money, about £250 each.

This is the new Altar cloth

If anyone wishes to commission one of these Altar Dressings, perhaps to remember a loved one or just because they are so lovely please contact Jenny Deighton.

Photographs

If anyone has photographs of any of the three churches and would like to share them please contact Annie (details on Contacts Page).

The Re-opening of St Michael's, Upton Warren 14th December 2005

Despite the builders having not completed their work the church was reopened on 14th December, the celebration marked by a candle lit carol service.  The interior looked beautiful, warm and welcoming bathed in the soft glow of many candles and the lights from the Christmas tree.  It was nice to see so many people in the church, regulars and not so regulars, all were made welcome.

The choir entered parading along the aisle singing and bearing candles; the interior of the church was lit by candles, some in small red holders, others part of magnificent green wreaths and red ribbon decorations.  Rector Antell gave a brief description of the work carried out and then the evening of carol singing and Christmas poems began.  It seemed no time at all before the last carol was ringing out and mince pies and mulled wine was consumed: a real celebration both of the reopening and the start to Christmas.
